Social protection programmes are often planned and implemented in isolation. As a result, they fail to unlock the potential of a harmonized social protection system. By optimizing service delivery, analytics and transparency, digital solutions can vastly reduce fragmentation and enable a systems approach to universal social protection. But what is required to tie the knots?

That is one of the questions the one-day conference “Tying the digital knots: Social Protection in practice” seeks to answer. It gathers development practitioners, digital experts, policymakers, donors and researchers, as well as leading voices in the fields of social protection, data security and information systems technology. It provides a platform for the discussion of concepts, ideas, implementation strategies and country experience in establishing integrated systems as well as the potential for future alliances in the field of digital social protection.

With its integrative approach to healthcare data management, openIMIS presents an innovative digital solution to social protection challenges. The software and its application in Nepal therefore will be presented at the conference by Dr. Madan Kumar from the Health Insurance Board Nepal and Saurav Bhatterai, GIZ Nepal.
