Expanding openIMIS: Delegation visit from Togo

A major institution in Togo has expressed interest in piloting openIMIS to support their insurance expansion scheme. Representatives of INAM (Institut National d’Assurance Maladie du Togo) who visited Geneva in April 2018 conveyed their desire to implement openIMIS for their 300,000 formal sector members, with a potential extension to their three million members in the informal sector.

Mrs Myriam Dossou d’Almeida, INAM’s Director-General, highlighted the importance of an adaptable solution that would evolve with INAM’s needs. The openIMIS platform would fulfil this condition with ease, since it places user requirements at the heart of its software. INAM already has the required infrastructure (hardware, human resources) to deploy openIMIS, which would greatly facilitate a pilot phase.

INAM will now seek financial support for the assessment phase and for initial implementation. Meantime, the online resources available through openIMIS will help INAM explore the system in greater depth and eventually start building local capacity.
